I wish I had seen this article before I wrote my own "the White Whine." My take is that white supremacy fetishizes and intentionally perpetuates failure so it's a bit different but ... yeah. This is absolutely so.

Umair, I appreciate you have now some 80 comments to read through and may not see this but I hope you have or will read Heather Cox Richardson's How the South Won the Civil War. She develops a number of the points you've made here. I haven't inspected your citations but if you didn't know about the work previously I'd like to be the one to suggest it to you.
