I already knew about this but it’s so unbelievably hilarious that this is a real thing I couldn’t help but show up for it. (The Medium piece. Not the event. As a woman I can’t afford to spend $2k on insulting bullshit.) But I just want to see how this goes. I feel like there will actually be a handful of attendees but I also have a feeling it’s still going to get cancelled as a result of poor organization because … you know … run exclusively by men.

I mean frankly, there’s just so many jokes to be had here. Like, if there’s no women working this … whoever will provide the tea?? Surely one cannot have a convention with out tea and amazingly poor instant coffee?

But then my other thought is do any of these guys have advanced degrees? Like, I mean … I’m used to going to academic conferences so maybe most conferences aren’t like this but I would expect the speaker to have some authority on the subject. These guys seem very, just painfully single. So on what authority are they speaking? I mean, some of their taglines suggest they don’t understand just super basic biology or sociology so I suppose it’s all “confidence of a mediocre white man,” but just …. wow.

Gotta say, I’m kinda intrigued. It’s a shame the price tag’s so high because I kinda want to go just to absorb the shock. This is an absolute train-wreck and honestly, I will get us the popcorn.
